QSL partners with FIFA to give a raise to the professional club management and administration. President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and the president of QSL, HE Sheikh Hamad Al-Thani, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The contract was signed on 12 June 2022 in Doha. It follows an independent review of Qatar Star League to make identified strategic initiatives to improve the level of the league in both competitiveness and entertainment.
At the announcement, the QSL President said that Post the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, they are looking at the next of Qatari football. He added more, they have an ambitious plan to transform their club game. Critical to their success will be for every Qatar Star League club to aspire to become a model professional club on and off the pitch. He said that through this contract, the QSL Club can excessively collect huge experience, insights, and practical knowledge and be able to turn it to their advantage.
Gianni Infantino responded that FIFA is delighted to support the development of QSL as part of FIFA’s vision to make football truly global and create a more competitive and sustainable eco-system. He added that the ecosystem where all clubs, leagues, and players could compete at the highest level from all around the world. And he further said that FIFA is ready to support QSL in this journey.
