Community guidelines
How to take part in the discussion on Times Break.
Comments are where readers help each other: the fix that worked on your phone, a question about a guide, a better price in your country, a different take on a game. These guidelines keep the discussion useful and friendly for everyone.
Do
- Stay on topic. Talk about the article, the product or the problem it covers.
- Be specific. Your device model, software version or country makes your comment far more useful to others.
- Disagree with ideas, not people. Debate is welcome; personal attacks are not.
- Tell us when we got something wrong. We check it, fix the article and note the change.
Do not post
- Insults, harassment, threats, or attempts to find or share someone's personal details.
- Hate speech or slurs about anyone's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
- Sexual content, graphic violence, or anything that encourages harm to yourself or others.
- Spam: ads, referral or promo codes, affiliate links, self-promotion, or the same comment again and again.
- Links or directions to pirated software or games, cracks, malware, account selling, or cheats that break a game's rules.
- Personal information, yours or anyone else's: phone numbers, addresses, account details.
- Pretending to be someone else, including Times Break staff.
- Anything illegal, or that breaks someone else's copyright.
How moderation works
- You need a free Times Break account with a confirmed email address to comment. Other readers see your first name, the first letter of your last name and your profile photo if you added one. They never see your email address.
- A new reader's first comments, and comments with links, phone numbers or blocked words, wait for an editor before anyone else can see them. This usually takes less than a day.
- Readers can report a comment from the menu next to it. A comment reported by several readers is hidden until an editor has looked at it.
- You can edit a comment for 15 minutes after posting it and delete it at any time.
- We remove comments and profile photos that break these guidelines. Accounts that keep breaking them can no longer comment. Serious abuse is removed straight away.
