Privacy policy

Last updated October 19, 2026.

This policy explains what personal data Times Break ("we", "us") collects on timesbreak.com, why, and the choices you have. Questions: info@timesbreak.com.

What we collect

  • When you just read the site: we keep no account of you. Our hosting company keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
  • Reader account (optional): your email address, the name you give, the topics you choose, how you signed in (email link, Google or Microsoft) and when. With Google or Microsoft we receive only your name, email address and an account ID; we never get your password and never post anything for you.
  • Newsletter (optional): your email, chosen topics, where you signed up, and the time you asked to subscribe and confirmed by email, kept as a record of your consent.
  • Price alerts (optional): the product, country and price you asked us to watch.
  • Messages you send us by email.

Why we use it

  • To run your account, send the emails you asked for (sign-in links, The Break newsletter, price alerts) and remember your settings. Legal basis: our agreement with you, and your consent for the newsletter.
  • To keep the site safe from spam, bots and abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure site.
  • To show advertising that pays for the site, as described below. Legal basis: your consent where the law requires it, otherwise our legitimate interest.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share your email address with advertisers.

Companies that help us

  • Brevo sends our emails and stores the newsletter list.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks that sign-up forms are used by people, not bots.
  • Google (AdSense) shows ads; Google and Microsoft provide sign-in if you choose them.
  • Our web host stores the site and its database.
  • Stores and affiliate networks: when you click a store link, that store or network may set its own cookies to credit us for a sale. We do not receive your purchase details.

Some of these companies process data outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings and learn more at how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before ads use cookies.

Our own cookies and storage:

  • tb-member: keeps you signed in (30 days).
  • tb-region: remembers the country you picked on the deals page.
  • tb-theme (stored in your browser): remembers light or dark mode.

These are needed for the features you use and are not used for advertising.

How long we keep it

  • Account, topics and price alerts: until you delete your account.
  • Newsletter consent records: while you are subscribed and for up to three years after you unsubscribe, so we can show you agreed.
  • Server logs: kept by our host for a limited period for security.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom of it, change your topics or delete your account at any time from your account, which removes your data from our site and our email list.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe and the UK, or US state laws such as California's CCPA), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. Email info@timesbreak.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Comments and profile photos

  • Comments (optional): what you write, the article it is on, when you posted or edited it, and likes and reports. Comments are public: other readers see your first name, the first letter of your last name, your profile photo if you added one, and when you posted. They never see your email address.
  • Profile photo (optional): before we store it we resize it to a small square and remove hidden details such as location and camera data. You can change or remove it at any time in your account.
  • Keeping the discussion safe: to stop spam and abuse we keep a one-way scrambled version of the network address a comment was posted from, and the reports readers send. Our editors can read, hold, hide or delete comments.
  • Deleting your account deletes your photo and your comments. If someone replied to one of your comments, their reply stays and your comment shows as deleted.

Children

Times Break is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. Important changes are announced on the site or by email.
