GTA: The Trilogy launching this fall

Rockstar Games has announced that the remastered versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas — in the form of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition — will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/ S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. It will also come to iOS and Android in the first half of 2022.

The exact launch date of the upgrades is yet to be revealed. As a result of the new launch, Rockstar Games will remove existing versions of the classic GTA titles from digital retailers beginning next week. However, existing players who purchased the titles earlier will still download and play them on their respective consoles.

The remastered versions’ launch aligns with the anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III that has existed for the last 20 years — since October 2001. Rockstar Games is also bringing a cavalcade of special gear to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its renowned title. The pack will be available for collection in GTA Online this fall.

Rockstar Games has decided to make room for the new remasters by delisting older versions of the games. Starting the week of October 11th, Rockstar Games will remove any old versions and bundles featuring these titles from all digital stores. You will no longer be able to buy any of the original versions of those games from any console or PC digital store. That said, if you already purchased the games, you’ll still be able to download them and play them on the platform you bought them on.

We’ll have to wait for additional details about the remastered trilogy. Still, Rockstar also shared some exciting news for GTA V fans. Eight years after launch, GTA Online is still getting consistent updates, and that’s not stopping any time soon. Rockstar will celebrate the 20th anniversary of GTA 3 in GTA Online with events, commemorative clothing, and liveries this fall.

Next year, GTA Online will also get an improved experience for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/ S users in March.

More information on the game is said to be coming in the coming weeks.
